If you’re looking for a 100% vegan restaurant near Heraklion, Avocado is well worth adding to your list. It sits inside the 5-star Apollonia Beach Resort & Spa in Ammoudara, around 15 minutes from the centre of Heraklion, and offers a fully vegan menu that combines traditional Cretan flavours with more familiar vegan dishes.

You’ll find Cretan favourites such as fava and dakos alongside options like vegan burgers, pasta dishes and salads. One dish we particularly recommend is the vegetable schnitzel — one of the more interesting things on the menu and definitely worth a try.

The restaurant opens from 19:00, making it a good option for a vegan dinner after a day exploring Heraklion or the surrounding area. Since Avocado does not operate every day, we recommend contacting the restaurant to book a table in advance, especially during the summer season.
